Healthy Home Building – A Natural Step

At British Pacific Homes we are passionate about building environmentally friendly, healthy homes. We are committed to quality construction, energy efficiency, superior indoor air quality and livable environments.

When we build your new home the benefits to you and your family are significant. Not only will you be contributing in a very real way to the preservation of our environment but you will, most importantly, be providing your family with a healthier indoor climate.

We spend considerably more than half our time indoors, yet the quality of air in most new homes can be ten times more polluted than outdoor air.

A report in the New England Journal of Medicine states that 40% of children will develop respiratory disease, in part due to the chemicals in their homes.

At British Pacific Homes we strive to use environmentally friendly materials. We’re constantly searching for healthier products because we know that your family’s wellbeing and the protection of our ecosystem matter to you. These are some of the initiatives we work to improve on every day:
  • Lower energy costs through improved building envelope engineering and more energy-efficient equipment
  • Lower water costs through a combination of indoor and outdoor conservation strategies
  • Greater durability and fewer repairs. Durable buildings cost less to operate because repairs and replacements of failed componenets are less common
  • Reduced cleaning and maintenance through the use of more resiliant products, including landscape maintenance
  • Improved health through the use of less contaminated and less polluting building products. The quality of the indoor environment is our single most important driving force
  • Enhanced comfort. A well-insulated and tight building envelope not only increases comfort but reduces noise and energy consumption
  • Reduced erosion and stormwater runoff is managed through careful landscape planning, which may include rainwater harvesting and in-site stormwater infiltration
  • Reduced global warming impacts. To the extent that the products we use require less energy and generate less carbon diozide, or avoid release of other greenhouse gases, they contribute less to global warming
  • Minimized ozone depletion. By minimizing the use of ozone-depleting substances such as HCFC’s
  • Reduced resource extraction impacts. We try to ensure that the source of the raw materials used in our building products is from suppliers who practice green principles
  • Protection of biodiversity. By building healthy homes, protecting open space, restoring ecologically damaged sites and respecting wildlife habitats, we believe that we can make a difference in protecting biodiversity
